POSITION: Carpenter/Maintenance Technician POSITION SUMMARY: This is a regular, full time, non-exempt position in our Maintenance department. This position requires familiarity with the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the construction trade. Knowledge of the method and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment; safety precautions to be observed. YOU WILL: • Work safely and skillfully in a construction environment • Safely operate hand and power tools • Use physical agility to lift and handle heavy objects • Competently perform routine manual labor tasks • Complete daily activities according to work schedule • Use carpentry skills as needed • Paint as needed • Perform basic plumbing skills as needed • Dig as needed • Be flexible in your work schedule to accommodate deadlines • Do other tasks as determined and required by management REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Demonstrated ability to work in a construction environment • Experience using equipment and tools properly and safely, both hand tools and power tools • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions • Flexibility to work a varying schedule including some weekends and nights • Capability to work independently or with a team • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with co-workers • A professional attitude and willingness to work as part of a team • Ability to stand for long periods of time (70% of the work day) • Use hands to handle, control, or grasp objects, tools, or controls • Bend, twist and squat frequently during work shift (25% of the work day) • Ability to routinely move equipment/supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. for various needs • Must have a valid CDL and a driving record acceptable to our insurance provider • High School Graduate The Alameda County Fair Association is a non-profit organization managing the Alameda County Fairgrounds with nearly 300 events held each year.
