STRATFORD, CT — Four teenagers were arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting at a park in Stratford in May, according to police.
Police responded to a report of a shooting on Avo Street in the area of High Park on May 22. Police found that a Honda CRV that was stolen out of Trumbull was driven onto Avo Street where a group of juveniles were using the park.
Occupants from the vehicle fired several shots toward the group, according to police. (See video at the end of this story). There were no injuries, but police said a home and a vehicle were struck by bullets.
Investigators identified four suspects, two 17-year-olds and two 16-year-olds. On May 27, detectives found two of the suspects who were driving a vehicle with a stolen registration plate, according to police.
The suspects ran away from the detectives and one of the 16-year-olds was holding a 9mm gun with an extended magazine, according to police.
"The juvenile refused to drop the firearm," police wrote in a news release. "Officers were able to de-escalate the situation and with the assistance of the patrol division, both suspects were safely taken into custody."
Police said the gun was also recovered and was determined to be a Polymer 80 "Ghost Gun" with no serial number loaded with 9mm ammunition.
Detectives later found and seized the stolen Honda CRV in Ansonia. It had multiple bullet holes, according to police.
All four juveniles were arrested. They were charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, various firearm charges and possession of the stolen vehicle.
Police are asking any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Det. Alex Torres or Det. Jon Policano. They can be contacted 24/7 via phone/text at 203-726-0275 or by calling the department's Detective Bureau.
