It is described by organizers as "a visual mixtape of space, time, and mind." Officials said the experience will provide viewers the opportunity to reimagine how they experience sight and sound while surrounded by nostalgic nods to the past andreferences to the future. The experience will bring together some of the most provocative musicians, performers and visual artists of the moment, officials said. Artists participating in the Museum of Future Present include: The Cinematic Orchestra, Strangeloop, Shabazz Palaces, Hannibal Buress, Lorelei Linklater, Manya K, McKay Felt, Nothing, Off!, Once and Future Band, Morgan Delt, BIIANCO, Jay Hollinsworth, Emily Utne, Samantha Wendel, Protomartyr with additional artists to be added in the future on a rotating basis. Authorities said monthly musical performances will be hosted in conjunction with Black Fret, the nonprofit partner of the Museum of the Future Present. "As music carries us through the future it evokes memories of our past," said Eye Contakt Director Autry Fulbright. "But it's not just about the sound. The artist's work exists through liner notes, album artwork, film, and so much more. The Museum is a celebration of that, an opportunity to pause and absorb music and its many facets in a more complete and connective way." Officials said guests will explore multimedia exhibits and navigate spaces with themes ranging from retro-futurism to modern science fiction. People can also expect to see a variety of media, such as projection mapping, gaming and sculpture, and will be encouraged to enter musical versions of future worlds in ways they've not experienced. "Native Hostel was conceived as a platform and incubator for creativity and the creative class in Austin," said Antonio Madrid, founder of Native Hostel. "Over the past four years, we have seen many amazing concepts begin and grow out of here. The Museum of the Future Present is another of those gems that has value beyond just entertainment, but is rife with meaning, depth, and the quintessential element that underpins all things Native: it makes you scream 'F— Yes!'" Fulbright said their goal is to create an immersive environment that gives true reverence to the artist and their work, creating an ever present, ever enduring experience. "The Museum of the Future Present aims to foster a deeper relationship between guests and the music and musicians with whom they've lacked interaction. The collection brings lyrics, album covers, and the very concepts of musicians' work to life," Fulbright said. Looking for more eateries, shops or fun things to do in the Austin Metro?
