Description
BONSALL, CA — A SigAlert crash that killed a child and a dog, and seriously injured three others on Interstate 15 south of Temecula, has been cleared Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported on northbound I-15 near Bonsall around 2:25 p.m.
According to reports into the CHP, a vehicle swerved and then tumbled down a hill off the right side of northbound Interstate 15, north of Gopher Canyon Road.
The vehicle ended up at least 150 feet down the hillside, the CHP reported.
A woman in her 30s was driving the vehicle with a dog and three children under age 6 inside when the vehicle crashed for unknown reasons, NBC7 reported.
The oldest child and the dog were pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two children and the driver were taken to hospitals for treatment of life-threatening injuries, according to the news station.
A SigAlert was issued at about 3:05 a.m. shutting down the right two lanes on northbound Interstate 15 north of Gopher Canyon Road.
At 8 a.m., all lanes were cleared, according to the CHP. The agency continues to investigate the crash cause.
The victims' identities were not released.
