SANTA MONICA, CA — Phone service is back on following a 911 outage in Santa Monica, the city reported Tuesday afternoon. The city's 911 line was restored about 3 p.m. Tuesday, city officials said. "Santa Monica's 9-1-1 phone service has been fully restored," the city said in a statement. "Please call or text 911 to report emergencies and 310-458-8491 to report non-emergency public safety incidents." "We appreciate the community's patience throughout the disruption and are extremely happy that connectivity has been restored," the city said. The city reported the outages for both cellular and land lines in the Santa Monica area early Friday, advising that some 911 calls were experiencing routing issues and were not connecting to emergency dispatchers. Santa Monica Police were patrolling business districts and neighborhoods as an additional precaution, city officials said. "Santa Monica has a multi-departmental response team that is supporting the work of technology and regional public safety partners as they work to resolve the root cause of the disruption as quickly as possible," the city said.
