NEW LENOX, IL — Incumbent New Lenox Park District commissioners Bill Thomson and Ted Schulz are the projected winners of the April 6 election. According to Tuesday's unofficial results, Mark Ott Jr. received 1,842 votes, Thomson received 1,845 votes and Ted Schulz received 2,141 votes. Thomson, Schulz and Ott Jr. ran for two open positions as commissioners for the park district. Ott Jr. and Thomson are separated by just 3 votes, and the county has yet to count provisional ballots cast on Election Day and all late vote by mail ballots postmarked by Election Day. You can find the vote totals below: Tuesday's election results are unofficial until certified by the county on April 27. Provisional Ballots cast on Election Day and all late Vote By Mail Ballots postmarked by Election Day will be counted at Provisional Count on April 20, according to the county clerk's office. 21 out of 21 precincts reporting Mark Ott Jr. - 1,842Bill Thomson - 1,845Ted Schulz - 2,141 Schulz and Thomson are incumbent board members, and Schulz serves as the board president for the park district. Ott Jr. works as the head of trading for an investment management firm, and believed the most pressing issue facing the park district is the pandemic. "Successfully bridging the gap to normalcy is imperative for the health of the New Lenox Community Park District much like the rest of the world. I intend to help facilitate a safe opening of all of our programs and use a common sense approach to the task at hand," he wrote.
