Halito! I’m a Black and Choctaw 2SL(G)BTQIA+ man living in Ithaca, NY. For the past few months, I’ve been working nearly full-time 30+ hour weeks at my job. I make 14.50 an hour—barely enough to scrape by with rent, utilities, food, and to support my dog. I’m spending all of my time at work, and am barely surviving. I am a current university student. I do not have parents, and so financial assistance has never been an option. I’m exhausting all of my resources and currently am in need of about $1,500 of emergency funds. Please, if you can donate even $1, absolutely anything will help. I’m a good kid—I grew up alone, earned perfect grades until the end of high school and a spot at at a prestigious university. I’ve used my position in education to bring awareness to and advocate for Indigeneity and colonialism, and I study architecture to one day deconstruct colonialist values in the built environment and in Indigenous communities. I’ve never had a break in my life, and as much as I would like to simply work to afford this myself, it is simply impossible to do so. I will be providing updates as this campaign continues.
