Description
The Town of Essex is presently accepting applications for two part-time custodians in the Central Services Department. The hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evening (9 to 12 hours per week) One position starting a 4:00 pm and the second one starting at 6:00 pm. The positions will also provide coverage for vacation or sick time of other Maintenance Personnel. The 2021-2022 hourly salary range offered is expected to be $17.85 - $21.72. Final salary determinations will be made based on applicant’s qualifications and experience. Individual must be flexible in their schedule and be able to work some weekends and evenings as attendance at Town meetings or as projects require. Candidate must be able to perform general cleaning and minor maintenance duties in maintaining Town buildings, adjacent walks and grounds; maintain equipment in clean orderly and serviceable condition; and to provide assistance to officials, employees and visitors as necessary. Candidate Requirements Include: • Valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s License • The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions that are furnished in written, oral and diagrammatic, or schedule form • A working knowledge of materials, equipment used in building, custodial and grounds maintenance work • Ability to lift and/or carry objects of 25 to 50 pounds • Ability to perform minor carpentry, painting, plumbing maintenance and repairs • A working knowledge of OSHA laws and related policies and procedures Applications may be obtained in the Selectman’s Office Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 pm. or on the Town of Essex Website at www.essexct.gov.
