Description

Meatball is an 8 month old pure breed Chocolate Heeler. We have had him since he was 8 weeks old, and while we are completely in love with him, we have made the hard realization that our house is not the best fit for him. Meatball has tons of energy and ideally needs a home that can either give him a job, like a farm or ranch, or keep him active and mentally engaged for a large portion of the day. He is currently not neutered, we had planned to do that later this summer or early fall, but it's becoming more and more apparent our home isn't best for him. I have worked from home since day 1 with him, but even with me home, he needs more interaction. We take walks and throw the frisbee, but he still has energy to spare and results in him incessantly barking. He has been around another dog and a cat since we got him. While he does tend to try to herd our dog, who can get frustrated with him and act out against him, he doesn't bother the cat much other than to try to play here and there. We also have 2 young children (5 & 10), he does well with them but we have to remind them not to run too much around him or he tries to herd them. He is a great dog, and this is not something we came to easily, but he needs a house that can better mentally and physically stimulate him. We do not intend to just give him to the first person that reaches out, but will need to ensure he is going to a home that really is a better fit. To ensure a serious adopter, we do ask a rehome fee of $200. We will include his favorite toys, harness & leash and a bag of his food.
