A month ago there was a Covid outbreak within the Jackson County Jail, & as a result the policies were changed to refuse anyone with misdemeanor crimes or warrants. Jackson County Jail is unique in that while other jails changed with similar policies during outbreaks in the facilities, any charge involving violence was enough to house an offender. It should be added there is no longer a Covid outbreak within the jail, YET THE POLICY REMAINS THE SAME. If someone has not yet been seriously injured or worse as a result of this policy, it is a matter of time. If you feel so inclined, please write reviews for the sheriffs office via Google & Facebook/social media. Also, contact local representatives. This js a dangerous policy where the risks outweigh the benefits.
