Join us for a very special album release party with Dale Bruning, Tim O'Brien, Bill Frisell, & Nick Forster live at eTown Hall Doors: 6:00pm, Show Start: 7:00pm DALE BRUNING, TIM O'BRIEN, & BILL FRISELL with NICK FORSTER In the 1970’s, Bluegrass legend Tim O’Brien and Jazz legend Bill Frisell were both young students of the same guitar teacher in Denver, Dale Bruning. Dale, an experienced jazz guitarist and bassist, had come of age in the Philadelphia and New York jazz scene, playing with some of the best players around. He moved to Colorado and continued to play gigs, but began his career as one of the most sought after teachers and mentors in Colorado. Both Tim and Bill credit Dale with helping them discover their musical voices. A few years ago, eTown founder and host, Nick Forster, had the idea to bring his bandmate from Hot Rize, Tim O’Brien, together with mutual friend Bill Frisell and reunite them with their former guitar teacher in the recording studio at eTown Hall. The results were both remarkable and unexpected in that all three musicians drifted out of their comfort zones with their choice of songs, instruments, and arrangements. The results of that recording session is the new record, Life Lessons, a diverse collection of songs that capture the intimacy, friendship, and musicality that these three masters brought to the project. On August 25th, they will be reunited once more to perform for the first - and perhaps only - time, the songs they created in the studio. Dale, now 86 years old, is in top form and ready to play with two of his best known former students. The show will be recorded in front of a live audience at eTown Hall in Boulder. It will become an eTown show, broadcast nationally through eTown’s network of stations and streamed via podcast worldwide. Life Lessons, will be available for purchase at this show on both vinyl and CD.
