About Science Rehashed: Science Rehashed is no-profit co-founded by Mehdi Jorfi, PhD (MGH/HMS) and Shen Ning (MED’23) in August 2019 to provide universal access to recent scientific breakthroughs in medicine and biological sciences through interviews with scientists and lead authors of recently published papers. The podcast addresses this need in two communities: 1. scientists and students in resource-poor countries, who do not have the means or institutional support to obtain very recent scientific papers in life sciences to enrich their research or education and 2. young scientists and graduate students in more academically well-funded industrialized countries who juggle the daily demands of academics, research, grant writing, and professional development events while trying to stay up-to-date on recent scientific advances. Specifically, Science Rehashed offers three different series: Rehashing Science covers recently published discoveries in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Fireside Chat covers the lives, motives, and ambitions of top pioneers in life sciences and engineering. 360ᵒ Perspective provides a broad, comprehensive view of a disease, modality, or sub-field, serving as a platform to disperse diverse but accurate information regarding immediate public health concerns, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The mission has been awarded for the 2020 MassBio Life Sciences & Healthcare Nonprofit Pitch Challenge, Podcast Movement Scholarship and ranked in the “Top Life Sciences Podcast” on Apple Podcast”. The Science Rehashed team measures success through our podcast’s reach and listener engagement. Though our listeners currently span multiple countries, a significant majority are from the US and Europe. Over the next three years, we will continue to pursue growth in these two countries while aggressively targeting increased listenership in emerging countries such as India, Africa, Hungary, and Iran. Our podcast also aims to connect with the community as we believe science is a team sport that benefits from many curious minds sharing ideas while also uniting many in the pursuit of discovery and understanding.
