Captures the fear, anger and resilience of New York’s restaurant community during the early months of COVID-19.
Six-time Emmy Award-winner Rob Petrone makes his directorial debut with "86'd: How A Global Pandemic Rocked The World's Culinary Capital." Prior to directing, writing, narrating and co-producing this documentary, Petrone was the executive producer and host of Restaurant Hunter for Verizon's Fios1 News.
"As COVID-19 started spreading in New York in March of 2020, I reached out to many of my former Restaurant Hunter colleagues with an idea -- to capture this pandemic from a restaurant perspective in real time, creating a time capsule of the biggest story any of us have ever lived through. We put our restaurant industry contacts and expertise to work, following this moving target of a story wherever it took us, which included a linen supply company and a one-woman farm. The emotions are raw in a way retrospectives can't be. This is history as it unfolded."
