10 FILKENJUTSU students from Progressive Martial Arts Academy and Fusion Martial Arts Club test for their Black Belt Four of PMA's Filkenjutsu students, Darrel Craig, Miles Jackson, Eric Ridenour, and Christine Traigis, and five of Fusion's Filkenjutsu students, Ken Oakley, Jessy Heidle, Tim St. Clair, Nicholas Xenopoulos, Bill McClintic, and Rick Wilson, were selected as Black Belt candidates over the past year and have since been preparing for their Black Belt Test. The date of their test is set for Friday, July 23rd - Sunday, July 25th, 2021. These Black Belt Candidates hope to have their friends and family join them on Sunday, July 25th to witness their ceremony and take part in a luau to celebrate this tremendous achievement.The final day of the test is a public demonstration of their acquired skills, and all of those in attendance will serve as witnesses to the promotion. Students are encouraged to attend with their friends and family members (adults and children) to observe the final day of this incredible journey.The event will begin at 1:30 PM on Sunday, July 25th at the Elks Lodge in Oak Ridge. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to witness the closing ceremony and a Black Belt promotion if it is made. After the ceremony, we will stick around for a luau. Hawaii is the birthplace of Kenpo as we know it, and thus a luau is the only way to party. The rest of the students at PMA/Fusion traditionally provide the food for the luau. Please list what you are bringing in the notes with your reservation so we can keep track of what we need! The Brown Belts at PMA/Fusion are in charge of the luau, so if students have any questions regarding the luau, they should see Angela Wilson or Sam Fox. Space for this event is limited. If all of the reserved seats are gone, please feel free to come by and watch but be aware it will be crowded and standing room only after the tickets above are taken. Therefore, please do not reserve or hold any tickets if you are not sure you will be able to attend. Thank you!
