From the City of Dunedin: July 13, 2021 The Pioneer Park construction project will start beginning the week of July 12, 2021. The project involves the revitalization of Pioneer Park at 400 Main St in Downtown Dunedin, FL. During construction the park will be entirely fenced off and three pedestrian crosswalks will be temporarily closed with barricades, including: On Main St at Douglas Ave On Douglas Ave at Main St On Douglas Ave at Virginia Ln The project is anticipated to last 120 days. *Please Note the Downtown Summer Market will be re-locating to 349 Main Street during this project. Enhancement Project Details: Because of the popularity of John R. Lawrence Pioneer Park and it being one of the most active green spaces in Dunedin, the City is implementing an opportunity to make enhancements to the park. —The Community Redevelopment staff and Parks and Recreation staff retained consultants Cardno/BDG to develop concepts for enhancing the park and have chosen the plan which reflects the curvilinear shape of the recently renovated stage —The design proposes planting, hardscape and natural turf materials which will beautify the park while still allowing the demands of the various events held there —Construction documents have been completed with plans for construction to commence July, 2021 and a proposed completion date of October, 2021 —Current improvements include stage steps, lighting and brickwork and updated plaques at entrance —The actual improvements to the park will consist of brick pavers, stained concrete, and the re-sodding w Bermuda turf as well art walls along both ends of the park on Main Street side This press release was produced by the City of Dunedin.
