MIDDLETOWN, CT — Crews rescued a cat while extinguishing a fire at a home in Middletown on Tuesday morning, according to officials.
Crews responded to a report of visible smoke in a building on Wadsworth Street around 10 a.m., according to fire officials.
Firefighters found a working fire in the basement of the home, officials wrote in a post on the City of Middletown Professional Firefighters Local 1073 union's Facebook page.
Officials said the fire was quickly contained and extinguished, and crews rescued a cat in the home.
The fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal's Office.
"We would like to thank South District Fire and Westfield Fire for their assistance on scene and the City of Meriden and Cromwell Fire Departments for covering the City during this incident," officials wrote in the post.
