CHATHAM, NJ — The 2021 third quarter tax bills are delayed in Chatham Borough, with the holdup resulting in a due date extension, with taxes originally supposed to be paid by Aug. 1, with the new due date switched to Friday, Sept. 3. There will not be a grace period and should payments come after the Sept. 3 due date, the borough says interest will be charged retroactively from Aug. 1, until Chatham Borough actually receives the delayed third quarter payment, according to an announcement on the borough's Tax Office webpage. Chatham Borough quarterly tax bills are typically due every Feb. 1, May 1, Aug. 1 and Nov. 1, with interest charges usually tacked on after a 10-day grace period. To pay taxes online, click here, with payment status updated about two to three days after a payment is made. Borough residents who are seeking information about New Jersey Property Tax Relief, including the Homestead Rebate Program, Property Tax Reimbursement/Senior Freeze Program, Property Tax Credit Program and the Veteran and Senior Citizens Deductions, can pick up applications and forms at Chatham Borough's Tax Collectors' office.
