JOLIET, IL — A 22-year-old Joliet man who lives in the 2100 block of Capri Avenue was arrested Monday night by Joliet police in connection with a May 1 crash along Route 6 that left another person injured. On Monday, the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow charged Virgilio Barrios-Urizar with eight crimes. The charges include four counts of aggravated driving under the influence, two counts of driving under the influence, one count of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and one charge of improper lane use. One of the felony DUI charges in the criminal complaint states that Barrios-Urizar, while under the influence of alcohol, "did not possess a driver's license or permit or a restricted driving permit or a judicial driving permit or a monitoring device driving permit." A Will County judge issued a bench warrant for the 22-year-old man's arrest and Barrios-Urizar was booked into the Will County Jail shortly before midnight. Bail has been set at $100,000. According to the criminal complaint from Joliet Police Officer Bob Mau Jr., Barrios-Urizar was driving a Ford E150 along Channahon Road "while the alcohol concentration in the defendant's blood, other than bodily substance, or breath was 0.08 or more based on the definition of blood and breath units." On May 1, the Joliet motorist "was involved in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in great bodily harm or permanent disability or disfigurement to another (person) and said violation was a proximate cause of the injuries," the complaint read. Barrios-Urizer remained in the Will County Jail on Tuesday night unable to post 10 percent of his bail. On Tuesday, Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English provided Joliet Patch with the following news release relating to the May 1 crash that led to the criminal charges for Barrios-Urizar:
