Farm Manager Position at Thorncroft, Therapeutic Horseback Riding, Inc. Thorncroft Therapeutic Horseback Riding, Inc. has reached a pivotal milestone in its 51 year history. From 1969, we have grown to thrive on 70 acres under an open space easement, two indoor arenas, office space and apartments, a herd of 36 horses and staff of 26 full and part time employees that make up the Farm as it is today. Our challenge now is to ensure the future of the Farm and the delivery of its mission, “to develop the physical and emotional well-being of all people regardless of their individual challenges. We are committed to personal growth and education in an equestrian environment of respect, love and inclusion.” The position of a dedicated and seasoned Farm Manager is crucial to the success of the Farm and requires the following. Position: Farm Manager Reports to: Executive Director, collaborates with Barn Manager Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Drag 2 indoor arenas and 1 outdoor arena as needed Hay the fields September through April, 5 times per week Spread manure 2 days a week Mow and weed-wack the Farm and the fields in Spring, Summer and Fall. Includes all lawns, orchard, tree garden once a week Trim trees and brush, remove fallen trees and debris as needed Maintain farm equipment including but not limited to tractors, mowers, etc. as needed. Must have working mechanical skills for farm related equipment and general maintenance Perform general repairs including but not limited to plumbing, electric, and carpentry as needed Muck, bed, feed and hay as needed Remove trash daily and remove recycling once per week Purchase gas for mower and machinery Treat driveways in advance and remove snow in winter weather conditions after hours and weekends as needed Direct and supervise individuals for community service hours and volunteer groups in collaboration with Barn Manager Available to assist with special events with set up, management, break down for horse shows, open houses, fundraisers, etc. as needed after hours or weekends. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
