Description

GLENDORA, CA — Shepherd's Pantry in Glendora is holding a fundraiser through the end of July to help benefit San Gabriel Valley's underserved communities. Called "Nourish the Body, Feed the Soul," the fundraising campaign aims to raise $80,000 by July 31. Last year's fundraiser raised $40,000, according to a Facebook post from the nonprofit. The group has already received around $31,000 in donations as of Friday, it said. Money from the fundraiser will help pay for services provided by the nonprofit including haircuts, tutoring for children and resource counseling. The group also has weekly food distributions and provides a home delivery service for people unable to travel to their Glendora location, the nonprofit said. Donations to Shepherd's Pantry can be made online through Venmo, Paypal or its website. Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2021, about 42 million Americans may not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations. Find out how you can donate in your community or find a food pantry near you.
