TUSCALOOSA, AL — A popular Mobile-based beignet restaurant announced plans this week to open its third Alabama location in Tuscaloosa. Mo'Bay Beignet Co., which has its original location in Mobile and another in Auburn, revealed on Facebook Monday that Brooks and Hon Beck — a husband and wife duo from Mobile — will be the franchisees for its new Tuscaloosa eatery. Contractors could been seen Tuesday morning working on interior renovations at the former bar, which faces out to a busy corner for foot traffic in Temerson Square. According to notices posted at the location, the property owner is listed as local businessman Charles Spurlin, who also owns and operates The Shirt Shop.
