TUSCALOOSA, AL — Elevate Tuscaloosa and Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority (PARA) announced on Tuesday that they will celebrate the reopening of the McDonald Hughes Community Center with a "Day of Play" event on Monday, July 26 at 10 a.m. following a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony. The City of Tuscaloosa says community members are invited to enjoy free access to the updated facility, which now includes an indoor playground. A limited number of free snow cones will also be provided for attendees. Click here to subscribe to our free Tuscaloosa Daily newsletter and breaking news alerts Other amenities added to the facility through Elevate Tuscaloosa include a covered drop-off for cars, restoration of restrooms and showers, the installation of new, sound-absorbing gym flooring and upgraded lighting. Additionally PARA staff will be on-site to give tours of the McDonald Hughes Community Center, and will waive the registration fee for any guests who register for a membership during the event.
