Press release from the Atlanta Police Department: 07/13/2021 211940427 Preliminary Information: On 7/13/21 around 8:10 am, officers responded to a vehicle theft at the location of 77 Atlanta Ave SE. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who stated her vehicle was stolen from the location while her child was still in the backseat. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was outside of her vehicle while it was running when a male suspect entered the vehicle and drove off. Responding units immediately coordinated a canvass search for the vehicle and child throughout the surrounding areas. Shortly after, officers located the vehicle abandoned at the location of 620 Newtown Circle. The child was present in the vehicle and appeared unharmed. Officers requested Grady EMS to check the child for any injuries as a precaution. The vehicle will be processed on scene for evidence as the investigation for the suspect(s) remain ongoing.   Please keep in mind the above information is preliminary in nature and can change as the investigation progresses and new information comes to light.
