Older guitar player as gimmick

Offering my services as a gimmick for being an older person in your band of youngsters. I play the guitar well and all, but am unable to find a hip new band willing to allow an older gentleman to join. So maybe if you acknowledge me as your gimmick, that will make it acceptable for me to play music with you in public. F.Y.I. I'm down with Billy Eyelash so I'm not THAT out of the loop.
