Companion Care is a small, locally owned company that has been proudly serving Austin since 1994. Our services include daily dog walks, in home pet sitting, overnight stays, and pet taxi. We are currently looking to hire new Companions to join our team primarily to help cover our weekly midday dog walks that fall between 11am and 4:30 pm, as well as help with pet sitting in the mornings, evenings, on weekends, and over the holidays. The position is a part time independent contractor and hours will vary week to week. Most of our clients live in central and west Austin. What we’re looking for: Dependable and responsible animal lovers who are able to work independently and follow specific instructions. Every client has different needs for both their pets and taking care of their homes. Our sitters must be detail oriented, vigilant, and have excellent communication skills and a positive attitude. Any behavioral changes or health concerns must be promptly reported to us so that it can be addressed with our clients. Visits and walks are often scheduled back to back so time management is crucial to staying on schedule. In order to provide our clients and their furry loved ones with the best and most consistent care possible, we strive to hire longterm pet sitters to join our small team of Companions. While other pet sitting companies offer temporary seasonal work to make extra cash for the summer or holidays, we look for sitters and walkers who are able to commit to working with our clients for a minimum of six months, preferably longer. As a part time independent contractor you will be able to accept only the assignments that fit your schedule. We’re happy to work around other any other commitments you may have. This position is ideal for those with part time jobs, people who work from home, college students, stay at home moms or dads, and active retirees. Requirements: • Must be 21 years or older • Able to pass a criminal background check • Own your own reliable vehicle and a smartphone • Have midday availability on weekdays (at least two days during the week) and able to work during major holidays, e.g. Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Years Eve/ Day • Have animal experience of some kind, e.g. previous pet sitting experience, vet techs, vet assistants, kennel attendants, doggy daycare workers, longtime pet owners, etc. • Be physically active and comfortable working with cats of all temperaments and dogs of all breeds and sizes • Must have flexibility as schedules are different every day and subject to last minute changes • Able to commit to at least six months Responsibilities: • Arriving promptly to all visits, walks, overnights, and trainings, and managing time efficiently • Giving fresh food and water, scooping litter boxes, walking dogs in all kinds of weather, cleaning up accidents, administering medications as needed, tidying up pet areas • Taking care of small household tasks such as watering plants, taking out garbage and recycling cans, rotating indoor and outdoor lights, and other tasks indicated by our clients • Ensuring the safety and well being of all pets and supervising dog’s outdoor time • Providing your undivided attention to pets for the duration of the visits • Properly securing doors and gates, setting and disarming alarms • Checking off visits and walks as they are completed using our online scheduling system • Communicating any new information or routines expressed to you by the clients • Keeping commitments once agreeing to scheduled assignments • Being reachable on days that you have assignments in the event there is a cancellation or new pet care instructions • Texting clients with updates on how their pets are doing To apply, please send us your resume, days and times of availability, and a little bit about yourself and why you’re interested in becoming a pet sitter.
