The trend over the last 60 years has been for CEOs and other Executive titles to have their salaries increased disproportionally over the average company worker. Forbes reports: “In the 1950s, a typical CEO made 20 times the salary of his or her average worker. Last year, CEO pay at an S&P 500 Index firm soared to an average of 361 times more than the average rank-and-file worker, or pay of $13,940,000 a year, according to an AFL-CIO’s Executive Paywatch news release today.” Nothing any executive has done warrants any kind of reward of that magnitude versus the suppression of worker pay that creates that executives salary. What we see is those high end positions are held closely and only certain segments of the upperclass society are rewarded with these low-work, exorbitant pay positions. Less than 2% are black or brown and less than 4% are female! Further, there are family Dynasties being built by mega wealth that monopolize individual markets to the exclusion of any competition. The Automobile Sales Groups are a very minor example of the monopolies being built. For example: The same auto group owns all 5 major dealerships in Lake City. There is no competition and the buyers do not know when they go to another dealership looking for a better deal, their information is already on the computer from the other location. You cannot get a better deal. Brandon Ford-22 dealerships, Bozard-over 20 dealerships, Fields Auto Group-34 dealerships, etc, etc., ad nauseaum! When does a pile of money become enough for anyone? When they have it all? I believe there comes a time when the most greedy need to be pushed away from the trough-o-plenty! The money funneled into CEO expansion of salaries COMES DIRECTLY OUT OF THE MIDDLE CLASS! The disparities in pay are directly related to the unconscionable and unwarranted stealing from the workers to create the super-wealthy class we currently see spending huge sums to become bigger narcissists. CONSPICUOUS CONSUMPTION Super wealthy people, spending outrageous sums to show off their wealth to impress those unable to afford such… $1000 bottles of Champagne sprayed on the crowd, a wad of $100s flushed down a toilet for posting outrage, 2 billionaires trying to see which one is a bigger douchebag racing to show-off. A 12 seater rocket-plane, catering to more super-wealthy show offs who want to spend a quarter million dollars on a 4 minute moment of weightlessness to brag they did it! An hour and a half joy ride! 600 reservations made to spend $150,000,000,000, (that’s billions!) that will add super rocket exhaust pollution and provide absolutely NO SOCIAL GOOD OR PRODUCTIVITY FOR ANYONE BUT THE SUPER WEALTHY! Will any average citizen ever get on one? No!
