The Associated Recreation Council in conjunction with the Mount Baker Rowing and Sailing Center (MBRSC) is seeking applicants for several Junior Rowing Coaching positions including: Junior Boys Head Coach Junior Girls Head Coach Junior Girls Novice Coach Assistant coach opportunities will also be available after Head Coach positions have been filled. Mount Baker Junior Crew is a nationally competitive program which serves youth from multiple high schools around the Greater Seattle Area. Prior to COVID, Mount Baker typically served approximately 150 junior crew participants. Pay rate: $18.50 - $27.00/hour, commensurate with experience. This is a part-time position and if hired, you will be an employee of the Associated Recreation Council. Schedule for 2021-2022 is as follows: Practice schedule is Monday through Friday afternoons, and some Saturday mornings, plus additional weekend competition, seasonal staff training, and staff meetings. -Fall: Early September through mid November -Conditioning: November through January -Spring: Early February through mid May -Summer: July/August (optional) Responsibilities: -Plan and implement training and practice plans with a focus on safety -Prepare teams for competition -Work collaboratively within a team of coaches to ensure all participants have opportunities for success -Maintain accurate records in compliance with Associate Recreation Council and Seattle Parks and Recreation guidelines -May work with an assistant coach depending on squad size -Act in an advisory capacity to evaluate future equipment needs -Help develop ideas for future growth of the program with an emphasis on outreach to under-served communities -Follow COVID safety protocol in addition to any other safety protocol while ensuring all participants are following COVID protocols (social distancing, masks, hand washing, etc.) Required Qualifications: -18 years of age or older -Proof of ability to work in the U.S. -Excellent communication and organizational skills -At least 5 years of experience in competitive rowing, junior coaching experience is highly preferred -Candidates need to be USRowing Level 2 certified within six months of hire -CPR & First Aid training is required within one month of hire -Washington Boaters Education certification prior to start of season -Candidates must be able to pass a 10 minute float test prior to date of hire -Candidate must be able to commit to a full academic season (September through May) -Trailer driving and rigging experience are preferred -Please apply with a resume, cover letter and 3 references by July 23, 2021 MBRSC is operated through a joint partnership between Seattle Parks & Recreation, Associated Recreation Council, and the MBRSC Boating Advisory Council.
