Brodie is a 2-year-old purebred, gorgeous blonde Labrador Retriever looking for his forever home. He has had two homes so far in his short life, and we are looking for his forever home. His first home moved and couldn't take him with them. They did no training with him whatsoever. His second home was getting a divorce and she didn't want to take him to live in an apartment. Some training was done with her, but he was mainly locked up in a laundry room or crate most of the day--the husband wanted nothing to do with him and Brodie was with him most of the day. Brodie is very energetic and very smart. He needs a home that is entirely fenced in as he will run into the street to say "Hi" to anyone walking by. He needs a home that will give him the exercise he needs to be happy. He loves to run and he loves to play. A dog park or a playmate for him would help stimulate him. He does like to snuggle up at night when the house winds down. He has been allowed on furniture and the bed, but he knows OFF very well, so you don't need to allow that in your home. He does know a few commands and learns quickly. Taking him to a training class would do him and his new owner a world of good. He knows SIT, WAIT, OFF, COME and working on DOWN. He walks pretty well on a leash. He loves to FETCH until his nose takes him elsewhere. Squirrels are a fascination for him and he will chase them until they go up a tree and then he almost goes up there with them. He is crate trained, rides well in the car and absolutely loves attention. He's been around kids (not babies), cats, horses, chickens and does fine. Chickens took some time, he is a bird dog afterall. He is available for adoption from CARES Dog Rescue for $400. He is neutered and current on Rabies and Distemper until January 2024.
