Description
Our one year old male harlequin house bunny has been taking trips to the backyard for the last week or so since I finished bunny proofing the yard. Yesterday we noticed he's shaking his head and keeping his left (I think) ear a lot.
After doing some research, I don't believe he has mites, as he's well taken care of, but an infection could be possible. However, I have a feeling that he might have gotten cheatgrass in the ear, as there is some in the yard that he goes thru on his adventures, I should have removed it but I didn't even think about it. I don't have a small flashlight or any other way I can think of to verify if thats what it is, but it seems logical.
We're getting ready to make a vet appointment, but then I thought surely there must be ranchers or breeders around here that have experience with that so I might as well ask. I imagine it can't be hard to remove a seed, if thats the issue. The vet fees for rabbits are ridiculous, and we really can't afford it, but we will do that if we have to :)
I'd appreciate any advice, and/or if someone would be willing to remove it and show me how to do it, we would happily come to you.
Probably a long shot, but I thought I'd give it a go.
Feel free to email or txt. Thanks!
