Description Position Title: GROUNDSKEEPER | Landscape & Snow Removal Pay Rate: $400 | LANDSCAPING IS EVERY Sunday each week/ SNOW Removal is on-call GENERAL SUMMARY: Maintain grounds, fence lines along the east and north boundaries, and exterior of building PRINCIPAL DUTIES: AREA 1 • Mow grass to a uniform height of one and one half (l 1/2) to two (2) inches. Approximately 2 acre • Pull, spade, or use herbicides to remove all weeds prior to their reaching a height of six (6) inches. • Grass trimmed up to existing non-grassy areas • Edge all lawns adjacent to walks, curbs, signs, light post, bark mulch, and ground cover beds to provide smooth, clean lines. • Maintain current non grassy areas around trees in yards. • Cut edge two (2) inches deep and maintain a tight edge along curbs and sidewalks. • Trim grass to a one (I) inch height around all pop-up sprinkler heads in lawn areas to form an even circle ten (IO) inches in diameter. AREA 2 • Remove debris, rocks, limbs or other foreign material from lawn and pasture/barn areas prior to each mowing. • Mow grass on approximately 1.8 acres of grass • Post mowing total average grass height does not exceed three (3) inches. • Grass clippings can be evenly distributed across the pasture and barn area. • Weed area 2 including the northwest comer, to show continual progress in removal of weeds, including clover and coarse grass species. • Control weeds by hand in areas containing ornamental ground cover without damaging the ground cover plantings. • Remove blackberry vines, ivy (outside of beds), and sucker trees at all locations on the property. • Pull weeds and maintain current coverage on all area’s inside of sidewalk next to building. • Grass trimmed up to existing non-grassy areas • Edge all lawns adjacent to walks, curbs, signs, light post, bark mulch, and ground cover beds to provide smooth, clean lines. • Maintain current non grassy areas around trees in yards. • Cut edge two (2) inches deep and maintain a tight edge along curbs and sidewalks. • Trim grass to a one (I) inch height around all pop-up sprinkler heads in lawn areas to form an even circle ten (IO) inches in diameter. Solar Panel Area • Mow once every 3 months. • Keep rock areas weed free Fertilizer/Lime Application • November: Fertilizer: For the winter mix application, use 12-16- l6+Mg+Fe/SRNor similar. Apply 300 pounds per acre. • April and August: Fertilizer: For the summer mix application, twice annually use 21-714+Fe/SRN or similar. Apply 300 pounds per acre. • April after mowing beds: Fertilizer: For the Hypericum application, use 21 7 14+Fe/SRN or similar, apply a total of 100 pounds spread evenly throughout tbc Hypericum beds. • Lime: once annually in Autumn at least two weeks before expected winter frost. Apply 2,000 pounds per acre. Debris Removal and Disposal • Remove all debris on the grounds, including vehicle parking lots, curbs, walkways (adjacent city sidewalks, lawns, shrubs, and patio areas simultaneously with performance of other required work). • Use of blowers are allowed for maintenance of gutters, however, the Contractor is responsible for window and building cleaning, as needed, to remove spotting that may occur from the use of blowers. • Keep walkways and driveways free of equipment and debris while performing work during business hours. • Keep the exterior walls of the buildings free of vegetation. OTHER DUTIES: • Take before and after pictures • Complete a digital “after service” report • Maintain company supplied equipment • Obey all safety rules and procedures REQUIREMENTS: • Experience in general landscape & grounds keeping maintenance preferred. • Must be able to work independently and as a team. • Must have good oral and verbal communication skills and the ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively. • Valid Oregon Driver License Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Work is outdoors; moderate to heavy physical effort required; exposure to the elements (heat, cold, rain, snow); must be able to lift up to 80 pounds; must be able to walk, stoop, stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time; expected exposure to chemicals related to maintenance of lawns and shrubs; must be able to set up and climb ladders safely and handle tools and equipment necessary for assigned work. Will be exposed to moderate noise levels. May be required to work after regular work hours, or holidays or weekends. May be required to work on shifts other than the shift initially hired to work.
