Description

We want your input on a new mural for the Hollywood Park Community! The Sacramento Office of Arts + Culture, in partnership with your fellow community members, has commissioned local artists to create a community-based mural for the exterior wall of the business center at 4611 Freeport Blvd. Join the artists and community members to learn more about the vision for the mural and provide input towards its design. The vision for the mural is to reflect and celebrate the diversity and strengths of the Hollywood Park community. July 27 • Tuesday • 7 PM - 8PM • 4611 Freeport Blvd A community mural project allows an artist to collaborate with a community to achieve a result neither the artist nor the community could have achieved on their own. “This pilot program came directly out of discussions with the community when creating the City’s Creative Edge plan and Cultural Equity plan around infusing arts and culture into our neighborhoods and city council districts in Sacramento,” said Donald Gensler, the City’s public art project manager. “This is an exciting opportunity to bring community and artist collaborations to each district.” To learn more about each location and the artists, click here (PDF). Please contact our Hollywood Park Community Lead, Erin McSlavkin, at [email protected] if you have questions about this event, would like to provide your contact information to participate in our future meetings, or cannot make it and would like to submit your ideas.
