MILTON, MA — A Quincy District Court judge has ordered Myles King, 21, of Milton to be held without bail during his arraignment Monday morning after he was arrested in connection with the death of 25-year-old Marquis Simmons.
King was arraigned on one count of first-degree murder where a not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf.
Norfolk County District Attorney's Office Spokesman David Traub says King was arrested Sunday on a murder warrant after Simmons rode and parked his moped near Belvoir Road around 6 p.m. Saturday, and was shot almost immediately after.
Simmons was taken to Boston Medical Center for emergency surgery but did not survive his injuries.
King is scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning at Quincy District Court.
Milton Chief of Police John King thanked state and local police who worked quickly overnight to gather enough information to make an arrest less than 24 hours later. In a press release, he also gave his condolences to the friends and family of Simmons.
Milton police are asking anyone with any information on the case to contact them.
A probable cause hearing is scheduled for August 11.
