Our names are Tom Mitt and Jake Polzin, founder and president of TBG Technologies, an IT support company since 2004. The reason TBG Technologies exists is that we believe small companies are ignored. We are talking about the really, really small businesses. Those with ten or fewer employees usually get the short end of the stick when it comes to technology support. They have the same goals as big corporations. They have the same technology issues. But they have a tough time getting good, reliable help. These small businesses make up the bulk of businesses in the U.S. No one really knows how many there are at this level. The SBA calls any business with 500 or fewer employees a small business. I don't know about you, but if I had 499 employees, I wouldn't feel I was a small business! But these small businesses get passed over when the sales departments of most so-called "managed services" support firms set their targets. And who can blame them? If they can get a contract for 400 users or a contract for 3 users, they're going to head straight for the big company. That leaves the small "mom and pop" businesses all alone and without true professional-level services. Beyond that, these micro-businesses don't have the advantage of someone looking out for them and guiding them with new technologies, etc. We've seen too many small businesses running their networks with low-quality equipment, configured incorrectly, not getting updates, and not keeping up with changes that could potentially make them more productive. And leaving themselves exposed to all sorts of threats from hackers. Windows XP is officially obsolete as of a few years ago, but there are thousands of computers still running it. Same with Windows 7. Cloud services that could be used to help their businesses are not being installed because no one in the business understands "the cloud," and the big managed service firms ignore them. This is WHY we do what we do. Why shouldn't a business with five users get top-notch support? Why shouldn't they get remote assistance and quick, personal helpdesk action? Why shouldn't they be kept informed of new technologies that could be a big help? It's our vision that all small businesses get the technology help they need, when they need it. We can bring that top-level support to this group of under-served companies. And we can do it without breaking their bank accounts. We get excited when we can show small businesses technology solutions that they didn't think would work for them or didn't know existed. Technologies like VOIP (internet-based telephone) systems It is WHY we do what we do. In the coming weeks, we'll be posting additional educational information so you're able to become the best business owner you can be. We'll touch on backups, anti-virus, internet safety, cyber-attacks, ransomware, the cloud, email safety, and others.
