PURCELLVILLE, VA — An "active attack class" is coming to Purcellville, courtesy of the Purcellville Police Department. Authorities are offering four in-person classes to choose from on Friday, July 16 and Saturday, July 17. The four-hour classes are part of the Department of Criminal Justice's Active Attack program. The goal of the class is to teach civilians and first responders how to work cooperatively in case of an emergency like an active shooter. The Civilian Response and Casualty Care course is being offered free of charge to Loudoun County residents, business owners, and community members. Those who enroll in the class will learn how to recognize an active shooter situation, in addition to emergency first aid and other civilian response options.
