6th Street Studios & Art Center is looking for a passionate creative for a volunteer internship. Our organization is a 501C Nonprofit that began earlier this year. We are rapidly expanding and need all the help we can get. This is a unique opportunity to shape a new community-accessible creative space. Director 6th Street Studios & Art Center Abby Rose Bettencourt INTERNSHIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW The purpose of this internship is to provide valuable experience with digital marketing and ad-based graphic design while expanding creative opportunities locally in the Bay Area. Our interns work closely with the Director to engage the community through direct and digital outreach. Qualifications: •Artists, emerging graphic designers, and students •Ages 17+ •Ability to meet regularly, either in-person or virtually •Availiability to work events; about six hours monthly •Social media competence, for a weekly posting There will be a probationary mentoring period during which interns will meet with the Director, at least every other week, to receive feedback, critiques, and guidance for their work assignments. Interns should be available to assist in planning and working events regularly. At the end of this period, interns will have an evaluatory meeting with the director to discuss commencement to the internship proper. What you can expect from this experience: You will be assigned challenging, but realistic, tasks and projects related to the overall efforts of 6th Street Studios and Art Center. This provides opportunities to develop new skills and professional networks while increasing your autonomy. You will be provided clear instructions and deadlines, as well as an abundance of support. You will report to the Director, your mentor, who will be in charge of your day-to-day tasks. This program lasts 8-to-16 weeks, and in some cases, interns will be permitted to apply for a second, internship. Scheduling will be self-guided, with tasks assigned at the beginning of the internship. A commitment of three-to-six hours weekly is expected. Tasks may include: social media posting, graphic design, booth-tending, and other duties that best fit individual competencies. The Director will generate a summative report and letter of recommendation upon successful completion of the internship. What qualities are important to 6th Street Studios & Art Center in an intern?
