NEW HAVEN, CT — A car seat clinic hosted by the New Haven Health Department is slated for Tuesday at 54 Meadow St. at 2 p.m. Parents and caretakers of children can bring their car and car seats to the clinic for assistance properly installing the seat in their car as well as additional information on properly securing a child in the seat. This free program is available on the 2nd Tuesday each month now through October, but parents must make an appointment. Appointments can be made by calling 203-946-4937 or emailing [email protected]. A limited number of car seats will be available for caretakers who don't have a proper car seat. Mayor Justin Elicker will join city health director Maritza Bond at the clinic. Elicker, a father of two young daughters, will have his car seats checked by the on-hand health department expert, according to a news release. It is estimated that 4 out of every 5 car seats are not properly installed. And, motor vehicle accidents are the number one cause of death for children in the U.S.
