DANBURY, CT — Democratic candidate for mayor Roberto Alves today announced his second-quarter fundraising total. Alves has raised $108,000, and his campaign has been to over 9,000 doors. Alves' fellow City Council member John Esposito III and businessman Sedeaka Lawrence are also in the race for the Democratic nod. The Democratic Town Committee has endorsed Alves, but the potential of a September 14 primary remains. "I'm energized by the incredible momentum we've gained, and the groundswell of support that's come from our community. The message is clear: people want a better Danbury," Alves said. "We're up against the people who have been making the decisions for Danbury for two decades, and we know what to expect from them. But we know that using the same old tactics isn't the way to build a better Danbury for all. That's why we're focused on coalition-building, and making sure that everyone has a seat at the table from small business owners, to teachers, healthcare workers, and working families – we have to do this together, and I know we can get there."
