Esposito Raises $82K In Bid For Danbury Mayor

DANBURY, CT - Republican candidate for mayor Dean Esposito announced he has raised a total of $82,535 six weeks after launching his campaign. The total is the most raised by any candidate for mayor in a six-week period in the history of Danbury, according to the campaign. "This is a clear indication that residents of Danbury believe in my message of low taxes, stronger schools, and superior public safety," Esposito said in a statement. "As your Mayor, I will continue our business-friendly climate that has led us to recover faster than any other major city in the state, and I will work every day to maintain a low unemployment rate and great quality of life for our residents." Esposito was elected as city councilman for five terms, appointed to town clerk in 2003, and in 2005 he was the Democratic nominee for Mayor. In 2006, Mayor Mark Boughton named him director of consumer protection. He was later appointed community services coordinator for the Boughton Administration, and ultimately promoted to chief of staff, a role he continues for current Mayor Joseph Cavo.
