ROUND ROCK, TX — Round Rock City Council has approved a maintenance contract that will improve specific streets within the Forest Creek Subdivision. The contract, which was approved in Thursday's meeting, was given to Andale Construction for $689,828. The company will use a high density mineral bond seal that will extend the life of the asphalt throughout the eastern portion of the subdivision, officials said Friday. The mineral bond seal is used on streets that are still in good condition structurally, but are wearing on the surface, officials said. The process will seal the streets top surfaces, which not only improves the look of the roads, but also extends its life. Authorities said this treatment has previously been used on roads in the Bent Tree, Creek Bend, Settler's Crossing and Forest Ridge subdivisions. Officials said the project is anticipated to kick off in late August and will take about two weeks to complete. The city manages more than 1,150 lane miles of roadways within its jurisdiction. In recent years, Round Rock has devoted $4.2 million annually in improving residential streets. Officials said over $25 million has been expended to improve roads in over 20 neighborhoods in the city.
