AUSTIN, TX —A person who was struck and killed by a car in southeast Austin on June 29 has been identified, officials said Friday.
Miguel Guerrero-Garcia, 40, died June 29 after a car struck him while he was on the side of the road removing bags of mulch from the roadway that had fallen off his trailer.
Authorities said the crash occurred around 11:04 a.m. after a 2014 white Jeep Wrangler and a box truck were merging into the center lane of traffic at the same time in the 8300 block of E. Ben White Boulevard.
While merging, the driver's side of the Jeep struck the passenger's side of the box truck. The impact caused the Jeep to travel in the outside lane and striking Guerrero-Garcia while he was outside removing bags of mulch from the roadway.
The 40-year-old was found dead at the scene, authorities said.
