Description

Love & Mercy (2014) Movies are back at the Athenaeum! This summer, join us for an IN PERSON Monday Movie Matinee. We are celebrating all things summer with two movie vacations. First, we head off to Rome with Audrey Hepburn for a Roman Holiday. Then we head to the beach with the Beach Boys for a little Love & Mercy. Each movie will be shown in its entirety with a chance for discussion and conversation at the end. We look forward to welcoming you back into the building! Attendance is limited. Love & Mercy (2014) 120 Minutes This biopic of Beach Boy composer Brian Wilson focuses on two seminal periods in his life: his creative triumphs and mental breakdown as a young man, and his struggles in middle age to wrench free from a domineering therapist. The Athenaeum of Philadelphia nurtures curiosity in members and neighbors, strengthening community through learning and discourse. The Athenaeum of Philadelphia is one of 16 membership libraries that collaborate through the Membership Libraries Group. Some, like the Charleston (est. 1748), New York Society (est. 1754), and Newport (est. 1741) libraries, date from the 18th Century.
