By John Gibson, WNIN July 12, 2021 A COVID-19 related death is reported in Daviess County, Kentucky, while infections continue to rise in Vanderburgh and Gibson counties. The Green River District Health Department reported Daviess County's 190th fatality of the pandemic, along with 48 new infections in the seven-county district in the past three days. Just one confirmed case was in the hospital. The Indiana Department of Health added 24 infections in Vanderburgh County and a dozen more in Gibson County on the Friday dashboard. Vanderburgh's seven-day positivity rate among individuals jumped to 17 percent. Gibson's climbed to 31 percent. 168 more Vanderburgh County residents were fully vaccinated, pushing the count to nearly 82,000. The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county district of southwest Indiana rose to 35. Across the state, five new COVID-related deaths were added while new infections jumped by 400. More than 400 COVID patients were hospitalized statewide. A COVID-19 testing site serving three southern Indiana counties is closing, but health officials say it's not due to a lack of demand.
