YARDLEY, PA — The energy company PECO has offered to sell its former substation lot in Rivermawr to Yardley Borough for a borough-appraised value of $55,000. Liz Colletti, borough engineer, announced at Wednesday's council meeting that the borough could bid on the grassy lot at Morgan and Fuld Avenues, according to Bucks Local News. While the borough has not yet secured grant funding for the purchase, retroactive funding would be possible once the land has been acquired. "Acquiring the property has a number of benefits to the borough," said Council President David Bria. "It's going to help with our Community Rating System, which could translate into a reduction in flood insurance premiums. We also use it for a number of borough events from parking to Canal-O-Ween. The public works committee will discuss funding and a path forward at their meeting on July 20.
