OSWEGO, IL — Families related to John and Daniel Lantz, who settled in Wheatland and Naperville townships in 1850, are hosting their 93rd annual reunion at Hudson Crossing Park in Oswego Aug. 8. The related Lantz, Eichelberger, Patterson and Stoner families — of Kendall, Kane, Will and DuPage counties — met annually for almost a century until last year's reunion got canceled due to COVID-19. The Lantz and Stoner families met in separate reunions beginning in 1927 and decided to combine their gatherings in 1939. They've since been meeting on the second Sunday in August, and in 2019, 53 family members attended. Baltzer Lantz, who immigrated to Pennsylvania from the German Palatinate in 1750, and those related to him are invited to attend "and enjoy food and family fellowship." The reunion's tradition involves a potluck dinner that begins at noon at the park, 65 S. Harrison St. Family that attends can bring lawn chairs, table service, a dish, drinks and their favorite family memorabilia to share. Organizers of the event asked for volunteers to help setting up tables at 11 a.m. on the day of the reunion. Those interested can call Wanda Horton at 630-947-4559.
