Committee Discussing American Rescue Plan Funding In Long Valley

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Replacing lost revenue, broadband service expansion and spending for water and sewer infrastructure are a few of the ideas that the Washington Township Committee plans to brainstorm for its American Rescue Plan Act funding during its upcoming work session on Wednesday night. Washington Township is eligible for close to $1.9 million in funds, with half coming from the State of New Jersey in 2021 and then in 2022. Should the Township Committee consider revenue loss replacement as an option, they can apply $764,848.19 to help offset taxes, though the township will need to recalculate in 2022 and 2023, for the prior year's revenues. The township indicated in its document about the possible uses for the American Rescue Plan Act monies, that the Township Clerk requested additional information from Comcast about potential cable expansion.
