LOS ANGELES, CA — Authorities on Monday were investigating a shooting incident that left one man dead in East Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said in a statement. Deputies responded to a report of gunfire on Sunday evening at the 5700 block of Whittier Boulevard, where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso, officials said. The victim was taken to a hospital but he quickly died of his injuries, officials said.His identity was not released. Detectives were surveying the area in search of potential witnesses and video evidence.
