Description
LONG BEACH, CA — National Night Out, the annual evening marked nationwide to promote police partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie, will be Tuesday, Aug. 3 in Long Beach.
Neighborhoods interested in officers from the Long Beach Police Department stopping by their celebrations need to register by July 20.
"We're just weeks away from National Night Out!" the department said. "Hosting an event? Send us your info by July 20, so we can have a patrol officer stop by!"
See flyer below or here on Facebook for email addresses and phone numbers to pre-register with Long Beach PD.
National Night Out's early stages began in a Pennsylvania town in 1970, and the annual community-building campaign began catching on and expanding across the country in 1984. Now in its 38th year, the event, typically held on the first Tuesday in August, is in communities throughout the U.S. with neighborhood block parties, parades, cookouts, safety demonstrations, and visits from law enforcement and emergency personnel.
