Press release from City of Berkeley: July 8, 2021 Berkeley, California - On June 14th at 9:36 pm, a 50-year-old Oakland man was struck by a vehicle on Telegraph Avenue between Webster Street and Ashby Avenue after the man laid down in the roadway. The driver that struck the man left the scene after the collision. Despite life-saving measures taken at the hospital, the critically injured man died on June 26th. While officers continue their investigation, we are asking for the public assistance to provide information regarding the collision and bring some closure to the victim's family. Witnesses described the involved vehicle as a lowered, dark-color, mid 90's sedan, with tinted windows (possibly a Nissan Altima) and was last seen driving northbound into Berkeley.
