SCOTTSDALE, AZ — The first Arizona-born prospect selected in the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft is Scottsdale third baseman Wes Kath. Kath, who played high school baseball at Desert Mountain High School, was selected by the Chicago White Sox with the 57th pick of the draft. The middle infielder previously committed to play college baseball at Arizona State University. Kath was ranked No. 34 on MLB.com's top-250 draft prospects list heading into the draft. The Scottsdale native was the first Arizona-born player to be selected in the event. His slot value as the 57th pick is $1.243 million, according to MLB.com.
