Tide Baseball's Lee, Praytor Taken In 6th Round Of MLB Draft

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Crimson Tide right-handed pitcher Chase Lee was the third Alabama baseball standout selected in day two of the 2021 MLB Draft on Monday, going in the sixth round to the Texas Rangers. Shortly thereafter, catcher Sam Praytor became the fourth tide player picked, as he was taken with the 179th overall pick by the Miami Marlins. MLB.com estimates the 164th overall pick carries a value of $312,400. Lee now joins infielder Peyton Wilson and pitcher Dylan Smith on moving up to the professional ranks, as they were selected in the second and third rounds, respectively, on Monday. Praytor's sixth round draft slot is valued at $274,800. During his three seasons in Tuscaloosa, Lee earned the distinction of becoming Alabama's career record holder for earned run average at 1.87, giving up 17 earned runs over 82 innings pitched. A First Team All-SEC selection in 2021, Praytor graduated in May with a degree in consumer sciences. During his junior season, Praytor batted .277 and led the team with 14 home runs.
